Vitamin K and
Dr. Leon Schurgers!
In Less Than a Decade, This
Young Scientist Took a Forgotten
Nutrient And Proved
its Importance to Heart
Health!
You will notice in many of my writings
that I am quick to mention medical
professionals and scientific researchers
who have inspired or assisted in the
creation of our Advanced Nutritional
Formulas. I've mentioned Dr. Wilson,
Dr. Wright, Dr. Teitelbaum, and Dr.
Ames.
Now I would like to add another
name to that list; Dr. Leon Schurgers,
Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at
University Maastricht, Netherlands.
Since the late 1990s, Dr. Schurgers
and his colleagues have been studying
vitamin K and have published nearly 50
papers on this once "forgotten" nutrient.
My team and I followed Dr. Schurgers'
vitamin K research very carefully,
and in 2007, he published two papers
that cemented his vitamin K reputation
and inspired us to develop K2Clear™.
The first paper was titled "Vitamin K: the coagulation vitamin that became omnipotent" and it summarized his work with vitamin K. At its core, the paper said that vitamin K supplementation could was essential for both cardiovascular health and for bone health. Dr Schurgers said it did it by regulating how calcium was used in the body. He showed that vitamin K promoted calcium buildup in bone while discouraging calcium buildup in the arteries.
The second paper he published in 2007 was titled "Vitamin K-containing dietary supplements: comparison of synthetic vitamin K1 and natto-derived menaquinone-7" and it was this paper that identified vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) as the best form of supplemental vitamin K for heart and bone health.
So, thanks to Dr. Schurgers, K2Clear, our circulation-enhancing "natto-derived menaquinone-7" supplement was born.
