Q: What is Phosphatidylserine DHA Compound?
A: Phosphatidylserine, or PS, is a naturally occurring phospholipid nutrient. PS is essential to the functioning of all the cells of the body, but it is most concentrated in the brain. Its relative abundance in this organ reflects its proven involvement in an assortment of nerve cell functions, including nerve transmitter release and synaptic activity. Phosphatidylserine is an essential component of brain cell membranes with may support memory, brain longevity, and mood.
Q: How does Phosphatidylserine DHA Compound work in the body?
A:
Phosphatidylserine DHA Compound duplicates the building blocks your brain is looking for.
Phosphatidylserine enhances the function of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and increases production of the brain neurotransmitter acetylcholine. PS also enhances brain glucose metabolism; may prevent brain aging, may improve mood (especially in elderly persons).
Q: Who should use Phosphatidylserine DHA Compound?
A: Anyone who wants to protect their brain and provide it with the nutrients it need to function properly now and into their senior years should consider Phosphatidylserine DHA Compound.

The FDA doesn't let me say much...
But it will let me say this about Phosphatidylserine!
Both the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) keep a pretty close watch on the health claims made by dietary supplement manufacturers. That's why I was amazed
back in 2003 when the FDA allowed supplement
companies to make the following
claims:
"Consumption of phosphatidylserine
may reduce the risk of dementia in
the elderly. Very limited and preliminary
scientific research suggests that
phosphatidylserine may reduce the
risk of dementia in the elderly. FDA
concludes that there is little scientific
evidence supporting this claim."
And:
"Consumption of phosphatidylserine
may reduce the risk of cognitive
dysfunction in the elderly.
Very limited and preliminary scientific research suggests that phosphatidylserine
may reduce the risk of cognitive
dysfunction in the elderly. FDA
concludes that there is little scientific
evidence supporting this claim."
Of course, both of these claims are
three sentences long, and the FDA did
everything they could in sentences two
and three to discount the first sentence.
But for me, who has had a long history
of dealing with the FDA, I was truly
amazed that they would recognize the
health benefits of a nutritional supplement.
Ahhhh ... your tax dollars at
work!
One last thing on phosphatidylserine...
In 2008, a company in Israel found
a way to combine phosphatidylserine
with the omega fatty acid DHA. As a
phospholipid, phosphatidylserine acts
as a delivery platform and carries the
DHA across the blood/brain barrier
and improves the bioavailability of
DHA to the brain.
Of course, when we learned about
this, we quickly updated our phosphatidylserine
product and I am pleased to say now sell Phosphatidylserine-DHA Compound
